About Windman Ventures

Supporting engineering leaders through growth & change

About Windman Ventures

Windman Ventures is the home for my coaching and creative work, built around a simple belief: meaningful growth usually happens in moments of change.

My coaching is grounded in lived experience. I've built and scaled engineering teams, navigated rapid growth and uncertainty, made hard mistakes, and learned what actually holds up over time. I don't coach from theory alone,I coach from inside the work.

Alongside coaching, Windman Ventures is a place for a small set of projects that explore work, purpose, and meaning from different angles. Each reflects the same underlying curiosity that drives my coaching: how people make sense of change, find clarity in transitions, and move forward with intention.

About Tracie

I'm a VP of Engineering at a fintech startup and a leadership coach working primarily with engineering leaders in transition. Much of my work is with people stepping into new responsibility, like first-time managers, directors, or senior leaders carrying increased scope, who want to lead well without losing themselves in the process. These shifts are rarely just tactical. They're personal, ambiguous, and often harder than anyone admits.

Before focusing on coaching, I spent years building and scaling engineering teams across multiple companies and growth stages. I've worked through the realities of rapid change: hiring and reorganizing at speed, navigating ambiguity, and learning, sometimes the hard way, what actually supports people and organizations over time. That experience shapes how I listen and the kinds of questions I tend to ask.

My coaching style is thoughtful, direct, and practical. I'm less interested in prescribing a framework than in helping people make sense of what they're facing, clarify what matters, and move forward with intention. I believe good leadership is rarely about having the right answers, and much more often about learning how to hold complexity without getting stuck.

How I Work

Leadership is driving change

Leadership is the ability to influence change, regardless of title. With seniority, that work increasingly becomes helping others lead change themselves.

Say the simple thing

Often the most helpful insight is also the most obvious. Saying the simple thing clearly can unlock progress faster than adding more complexity.

Everything is an experiment

Try something, pay attention to what happens, and adjust. Progress comes from learning, not from getting it right the first time.

Clarity is kindness

Clear, direct feedback is an act of respect. Avoiding clarity rarely protects people; it usually just delays necessary change.
