Engineering Leadership Coaching
Work on the leadership problems you can't solve by trying harder.
Engineering Manager
From 'great engineer' to 'leader of people' is a real shift. We work on the practical pieces—and the identity pieces too.
- Giving clear feedback (without over-explaining or avoiding)
- Running effective 1:1s and setting expectations
- Delegation, scope, and 'I can't do it all'
- Building trust while still learning the job
Director of Engineering
Your job becomes alignment: across teams, across priorities, across people.
- Managing managers (and not backchanneling around them)
- Cross-team decision making and tradeoffs
- Hiring and performance decisions you can stand behind
- Operating cadence: what you measure, what you ignore
VP of Engineering
The problems stop being technical. They become organizational.
- Org design, team shape, and resetting expectations
- Executive/peer alignment and influencing product strategy
- Culture under pressure (and what you'll tolerate)
- Clarity, accountability, and decision hygiene
CTO Coaching
Support for senior technical leaders across the full system: product, people, architecture, and the business.
- Technical vision that's credible and executable
- Building vs. buying vs. living with 'good enough'
- Decision-making under uncertainty
- Partnering with CEO/board (and protecting focus)
How Sessions Work
- Most sessions start with a quick check-in. I'll ask what's changed since we last spoke and what feels most important to focus on today.
- From there, we dive into the thing you're working through. Sometimes it's a specific situation, a decision, a conversation, or a team issue. Other times it's broader: how you're approaching your role, what you're reacting to, or where you feel stuck.
- We unpack the situation to understand what is actually happening and what to do next.
- We wrap up by identifying a few takeaways or next steps: something you want to try, notice, or handle differently before the next session.
How to Get Started
Most engagements begin with a 30-minute intro call. This is a chance for us to talk about what you're dealing with, what you're hoping for, and whether coaching feels like the right kind of support. There's no prep, and no pressure to continue if it's not a fit.
If we decide to work together, we'll talk through cadence, scope, and what would be most useful for you right now. Sessions are typically 45 minutes long, twice a month.
Interested in working together?
Tell me what's changing in your role and what feels stuck. A short intro call is usually enough to tell if coaching would help.
